Karen Lynne has a style of music that ranges from Country to Bluegrass to Folk and everything in between.

 

 

Probably the Industry’s quietest achiever, her long career now includes ten albums (4 of which are bluegrass), twelve major Award wins, over forty major Finalist Nominations, three International tours, many Top 10 Radio Chart hits, a number of overseas Chart hits and most recently, a place in Country Music’s Historic ‘Hands of Fame’. Karen is based in the Blue Mountains and is also Australia's foremost female Bluegrass artist. She is a multi-Awarded singer and songwriter & sings with a team of fine Australian Bluegrass musicians, including her husband Martin Louis – Banjo; Andrew Richardson - Bass; Nigel Lever – Mandolin, Guitar & Vocals; Glen Skarratt – Guitar & Vocals; and James Church guesting with them this year on Resonator Guitar. Karen has toured across Australia, New Zealand, three times in the UK and in 2005 completed a 6 week European tour which included a support to top US Bluegrass act ‘Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder’.


More recently, she featured on the International Showcase at the IBMA Annual ‘World Of Bluegrass’ Convention in Nashville in 2012 and has been chosen to perform on both Australian Bluegrass Cruises so far. Her latest release ‘Shine Your Light’ was a traditional Bluegrass Gospel album recorded in the studios of Tom T & Dixie Hall; produced in Nashville by Jerry Salley and features some of the top Bluegrass players in the world. She has also been recently honoured as the first Australian ‘Daughter of Bluegrass’, having a track on the 3rd USA based Daughters of Bluegrass Project ‘Pickin’ Like A Girl’, created to feature & promote women in Bluegrass. Previous to that she was the first female in Australia to have a Bluegrass album released through a major label. This album was called ‘Wishing Well’ and was released under the ABC Records ‘Heartland’ Label, distributed by Universal Music .


Special Guests this year will include the reigning 2015 Youth ‘Battle of the Bluegrass’ Winner William Louis, featuring on banjo and mandolin.
